Surprise! Surprise! Humpback Mountain Is Hollywood’s Choice

Guess what were the three top grossing movies for 2005? If you said Star Wars: Episode III, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and the Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, then you are correct. Each of these three films was also qualified for this year’s Oscars. However, not one of these films was up for an Oscar nomination for Best Picture. Not only that, guess how many Oscar nominations these movies got -- just three nominations total; one for each film. Guess what movie received eight Oscar nominations – including Best Picture. Let me give you a hint. It coincidently comes on the heals of the Oscars. If you said Brokeback Mountain, then you are correct. (I’ll also give you credit if you said “Humpback Mountain” since they are the same thing.) Now if you’re thinking that these nominations reflect the promotion of Hollywood’s cultural and political agenda, you’re just thinking that because you’re just one of those radical, bigoted, right-wing conservatives.
